Hypnotherapy: Further information
Hypnotherapy uses relaxation techniques to calm the mind and body. In a hypnotic state your subconscious mind becomes open to suggestions. Hypnotherapy can positively change your thoughts and actions in many situations.
The motivation and desire for change is the ideal starting point.
During each session we will discuss the changes you wish to make.
I’ll invite you to put your feet up, relax and then close your eyes. Hypnotherapy is a pleasant experience where you simply listen to my voice.
Some people feel as if they are floating, while others experience heaviness in their body. You may even feel a tingling sensation. Best of all, you can just allow your mind and thoughts to relax.
Towards the end of the session you will be brought back to a fully alert state, and after a few moments you will feel refreshed. Each session will last an hour and a quarter.

Relax and Unwind
For some clients the beneficial effects of hypnotherapy mean they sleep more easily, feel less stressed and begin to find new ways to take care of themselves. This could be something that you might benefit from before an important event or if you are going through a difficult period in your life. A hypnotherapy session could simply be a way that you choose to treat yourself each month to maintain a sense of wellbeing.
Hypnotherapy could be a way of experiencing all the sensations and experiences of a holiday to the destination of your choice, without the expense and the stressful travel. This might suit you if you have had to forego a holiday due to a lack of finances or a fear of flying.

How many sessions will I need?
Usually between one and three sessions is enough, but this will depend on each individual. Hypnotherapy can work quickly and change is often experienced after the first session.

NLP is about becoming aware of how we gather information from the outside world and how we interpret this information given our personal experiences, values and beliefs. I use NLP to help you become aware of the language you use. Once you become aware you can then choose to change that language so as to set a new more helpful pattern of thinking. |

If you are currently poorly you may like a session where we ask your body to relax and rejuvenate every part of you so that you can begin to heal your own body. We could ask your immune system to function more effectively for you so that you can begin to feel better, more energised and more comfortable. I would usually use metaphors and would encourage you to help me create the imagery that works best for you. |
Possible concerns
- This is not stage hypnosis which is for entertainment purposes only. You will remain in control all of the time and will not say or do anything against your will.
- If you usually wear contact lenses, they need to be comfortable to wear for around thirty minutes with your eyes closed. Alternatively, wear your glasses.
